Glass Bottle Coating

The hot-end coating is applied by chemical vapour deposition (CVD), directly after forming the bottle.
A thin layer of tin oxide is formed on the glass surface in a matter of seconds. The tin oxide layer prevents
any direct glass-to-glass contact, which preserves the strength of the glass.
Second, the tin oxide layer is the basis for enhanced adhesion of the cold-end coating. The cold-end
coating, a polyethylene wax, is sprayed on the tin oxide base after the cooling lehr. This coating causes the
glass surface to become slippery. The resulting low friction coefficient diminishes the forces in bottle-to bottle
contact.
Bottles coated in this way move freely through inspection and filling lines and do not sustain surface
damage. A damaged surface looks bad to the consumer and weakens the glass, often resulting in premature
breakage.
In addition, instead of accepting an increase of some 20 per cent in bursting pressure, the bottle may
be made lighter while still retaining its strength.

How to create an airtight seal

Having an airtight seal for your food products can make a difference in quality, taste and shelf life. The air is food's worst enemy as it breaks down the food and can make it go bad faster. There are multiple ways to store your food naturally and effectively, making your food last a lot longer. Canning, food storage containers and food storage bags all make great choices when it comes to creating an airtight seal to preserve your food.
1,Fill a pot with water, and place it on a stove top. Allow the water to come to a rapid boil.
2,Place the two parts of the lid in the boiling water for five minutes.
3,Use tongs to remove the lids from the boiling water, and place them immediately on the jar. Screw the lid on tight, and allow to cool for five to 10 minutes.
4,Test the seal by pressing the middle button of the lid. The button shouldn't move and should have been vacuumed down. If the button moves up and down, the seal is broken and needs to be heated again.
Use food storage containers for general storing of refrigerated food for three to four days.
5,Purchase either disposable or permanent food storage containers from a grocery or big box store.
6,Place your food items in the container, and press the lid on tight to maintain an airtight seal.
7,Refrigerate food items immediately for best results.
